The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

Welcome to Muscle Shoals, Alabama and FAME Studios.

Some studios are famous not only because of their body of work but because they helped change the course of music history. Because their heritage seeps through to culture and myth. Because they play an integral part in how we define a sound or an era. Because there truly can be magic inside four studio walls. Ask Aretha Franklin, Etta James, or Otis Redding and they’ll probably tell you that, yes, there is something that special about a place in the small rural community of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. A place that has soul – true Southern soul: FAME Studios.

With the guidance of original Swampers guitarist Jimmy Johnson, period-correct gear, and mic placement, the Southern Soul EZX sets out to recreate the unmistakable sound of soul. Crisp, dense, and saturated drums – all encapsulated in the hallmark ambience of the FAME room. It comes with five complete kits and two setups – one using all-mono miking techniques and one full stereo setup. On top of that, it features leakage mics for vocals, guitar, piano, and upright bass set up in their original spots in the room, a signature FAME trait and key to adding that special band presence to the sound.

From the smallest town with the biggest impact on music culture comes a touchstone collection of drums. Drums that have soul. True Southern soul.
