The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

smart:limit offers automatic parametrization, extensive loudness monitoring and a unique set of sound-shaping tools.

Additionally, the plug-in interactively guides you in finding the right loudness and dynamics for publishing.

Smart Gate

smart:gate features intelligent source detection that focuses on your selected target source in the signal.

In comparison with conventional gates, smart:gate delivers solid results and makes parametrization incredibly fast and easy.

Smart DeEss

smart:deess identifies the exact start and end points of phonemes without the need to set a threshold.

And thanks to its ability to process the entire phoneme using spectral processing, you’ll never want to go back to your old de-esser.

Smart Reverb

smart:reverb creates every reverb from scratch.

By custom-fitting the reverb to the spectral and temporal characteristics of the input signal, typical problems such as disturbing resonances or muddy reverb tails are avoided from the very beginning.

Smart EQ 4

smart:EQ 4 will empower your mix journey.

The intelligent equalizer sports a unique smart:filter that spectrally balances tracks in seconds and makes spectral mixing a matter of simple drag and drop.

Smart Comp 2

smart:comp 2 recommends the most appropriate settings for threshold, ratio, attack and release with a single click, while the spectral compression dynamically keeps an eye on the tonal balance of the input signal.

True Level

true:level sports a unique visualization of the interplay between loudness and dynamics, allowing you to easily find the right trade-off between these qualities.

With key readouts - Loudness (LUFS), Dynamics (dB), Loudness Range (LU) and true peak (dbTP) - supported by target indicators, you'll immediately see whether the values of your track come close to those of your chosen reference.

True Balance

true:balance revolves around analyzing the spectral distribution and mono compatibility of your mix.

It shows a real-time spectrum analysis and the average spectrum over time.

To evaluate the distribution of your track, you can use either the included genre references or load up to 8 reference tracks.

Proximity EQ+

proximityEQ+ lets you move audio sources closer, add space to your mix and optimize recorded room acoustics in post-production.

Frequency-selective dereverberation allows you to precisely separate direct from indirect components of the signal.

Entropy EQ+

entropyEQ+ equips you with the tools to manipulate selected frequencies ranges in isolation from each other.

It makes the editing process of impact noises easier and introduces you to a whole new world of post-production creativity.
