The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

Rave Distortion is an audio effect inspired by a range of hardware devices, including distortion pedals, synth filters, EQs, mixing consoles, and filter banks.

It's built to add warmth, texture, and intensity to any sound.

The plugin includes high-pass, low-pass, and resonant peak filters capable of generating feedback loops, along with flexible saturation and distortion stages.

This setup allows for a wide range of tonal shaping, from subtle grit to aggressive drive, suitable for many styles and sound design tasks.

A built-in low-frequency oscillator (LFO) can modulate filter frequencies, adding rhythmic movement that stays in sync with your project tempo.

Multiple Filter Types

Includes high-pass, low-pass, mid, and low-frequency filters each with resonance and modulation capabilities.

Features a 2-pole resonant high-pass filter (12dB/octave) and a 4-pole low-pass filter (24dB/octave) modeled after a transistor ladder filter for smooth and warm effects.

Dual Distortion Stages

Two separate distortion stages each with their own dry/wet mix and post-gain controls.

Dynamic LFO Integration

LFO rate can be synced with project tempo, affecting the low-pass filter frequency for rhythmic modulation effects.

Advanced Saturator with Adjustable Drive

Fine-tune saturation to achieve everything from subtle warmth to aggressive distortion.

DC Block Filters

Prevent DC offset, ensuring clean and high-quality audio output.

Comprehensive Parameter Control

Extensive control over each aspect of the audio processing to tweak the sound to perfection, including controls for low-mid and high-mid filters with adjustable bandwidth (1/12 octave to 3 octaves).
