THU Made In Rock DARK 50 is the latest from Overloud accurately emulating the JMP50 head played by Dan Hawkins on The Darkness albums and tours.

This Collection Includes:

  • The Made In Rock DARK 50 amplifier model
The emulation of the matched 4x12" cabinet with G12T-75 speakers
A dedicated preset bank recreating the tones of the most famous The Darkness songs
Additional presets covering classic styles associated with this amp
Models created using Fluid Capturing, the cutting-edge emulation technology introduced in 2025
18 additional models, including overdrives, modulation effects, and reverbs

Every Detail Captured

The THU Made In Rock DARK 50 head has two input Channels.

Channel 1 is brighter and crunchier, with a lot of presence. Channel 2 is much richer on the low frequencies with a bit more fuzz.

Inputs 1 and 2 were often connected with a jumper to have both channels blended together: by using the two volume knobs you can balance the top-end and the amount of bottom-end, and experiment infinite combination of tones.

The THU Made In Rock DARK 50 pack also includes an emulation of the slanted 4x12" cabinet equipped with Celestion G12T 75W speakers, famous for their deep low-end punch, and a bright, aggressive top-end.

The cabinet was captured using 18 microphones with high-resolution, nonlinear IRs.

Thanks to Overloud's Fluid Convolution, you can position up to four microphones in a full 3D space around the cabinet and blend them with custom IRs.

Use the AIR option to further enhance realism, adding a deep and immersive listening experience.

Standalone and Expansion Pack

This collection is both a THU expansion pack and a Standalone plugin, meaning that it can expand the model list of an existing THU installation, or it can also be purchased as self-contained pack which includes all the THU editing features, including the Rig Player, the Amp Tweaks, the Tuner and the Looper, with no need to have a pre-existing THU license.

History of This Legend

The reference amplifier is a Marshall JMP50 head, serial n. 4626C, year 1971.

This amplifier was owned by Dan Hawkins and used extensively in both live performances and studio recordings with The Darkness.

The amp was acquired directly from Dan and his engineer Nick Brine.

The head is paired with a slanted 4x12" cabinet, equipped with Celestion G12T 75W speakers.

The original amplifier is part of the Made In Rock private collection, a unique archive that has expanded over the last 20 years through the acquisition of amplifiers, effects, guitars, and stage gear used by legendary artists such as Jimmy Page, Black Sabbath, and Keith Richards.

The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

You can download the latest installers from the iLok website: ilok.com/#!home

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

Crossgrade Proof

This crossgrade is for owners of a competing DAW. To prove your DAW ownership, we require that you upload proof in the form of an image/PDF.

Types of proof

A copy of your purchase receipt for the original license or the most recent update/upgrade

A screenshot of your product registration

A photo of your package (either CD/DVD or printed manual), with the unique serial number included in the photo.
