The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

Based around the top selling and highly rated Vektor, Vektor Essentials Vol 1: Unique Strings takes the most characterful string patches from Vektor and puts them in a smaller and simpler package.

Allowing the user to focus less on sonic exploration and more on composing. But still giving the user a wide range of control over there sound.

Vektor Essentials also provides you with a bonus 24 manipulated string patches from Cinematic Drones to Pulsating Pads, programmed and recorded specifically for Vektor Essentials.

The user interface for Vektor Essentials Vol 1 is simple to use and contains all of the controls on one screen for easy access.

The Sounds

Vektor Essentials features three main instrument categories, each boasting their own distinct sound. These three categories are:

Manipulated

Manipulated instruments are made up of string samples that have been processed through a variety of effects modules, creating a unique, dramatic, and cinematic sound. Importantly, the parameters of each instrument have been painstakingly fine-tuned to produce the most characterful result.

Multis

Multis will load in several instances of Vektor Essentials, each featuring different sounds and parameter values. This generates a huge, layered sound that's ideal for creating vast, epic-sounding compositions.

Organic

The Organic collection houses the rawest stringed-instrument sounds, this doesn't mean they're any less capable or exciting than the other two categories, however.

These highly-adaptable instruments can help give your music a powerful, natural quality.
