The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

Gain Riding with Infinite Lookahead

DynAssist adjusts the loudness to the Target Loudness in LUFS-I.

Thanks to the 'infinite lookahead' enabled by ARA, pumping artifacts are prevented.

This was a common problem with previous vocal riders.

Additionally, DynAssist ensures minimal CPU load with 0.0 ms latency, ensuring that your workflow is not disrupted by playback delays at any time.

AI-Powered Vox-Gate

The AI-powered Vox-Gate works based on voice activity to remove pauses and silence, eliminating the need to set an additional threshold.

This method also prevents the accidental cutting off of the first or last syllable, a common issue with existing gates, due to incorrect gate opening or closing.

To prevent voice bleeding, use the Loudness Cutoff, which functions like a threshold but is specific to voice.

Highly Precise Breath Detection

The AI-powered breath detection is more precise than any other solution on the market. It ensures that every clip has well-leveled breaths, eliminating the need for manual editing.

In the interface waveform, breaths are highlighted in a darker grey, making it easier for you to overview the clip without having to listen to the entire file.

Sibilance Detection

The Sibilance feature works as you would expect.

It detects and levels sibilance that exceeds the threshold you set.

In DynAssist’s waveform, sibilance is highlighted in a lighter grey.

The overlapping automation provides detailed information about what happens to each sibilance.
