The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

Clean Up Your Mix

Pure Expander, capable of anything from mild expansion to hard noise-gating, is a versatile tool for cleaning up spillage from recordings, remove noise or reverb, leakage from drum sessions or microphone bleed. By reducing the gain below threshold, it gives you full control over the material making it easy to tighten up the mix and reduce any unwanted low-level clutter.

  • Up to 8 channels Input/Output
  • Generous -/+ 48 dB input/output gain range
  • Input/Output gain controls for adjusting the levels before and after processing
  • Dry/wet control offering true parallel dynamics processing and for blending some of the original "peak" into the processed signal.
  • Phase invert of the processed signal
  • External side chain support for AAX (Native & DSP) and AU; in mono and stereo format
  • Discrete peak limiter at the very last stage of the processing chain rounding off the peaks in a smooth and musically fashion
  • Three release modes are presented; manual, auto, and advanced (with minimum and maximum release values fully adjustable)
  • Auto delay function allowing for zero attack times by introducing a delay line in the processed signal
  • M/S Width for controlling the stereo width of the processed signal
  • Link Channel, provides linked/unlinked processing (in M/S mode)
  • True bypass control routing the incoming signal direct to the output for a smooth transition between clean and processed signal
  • Side chain section featuring a three-band equalizer to generate frequency sensitive processing
  • External side-chain available in AU (Mac OS X) and AAX Native & DSP (Mac OS X & Windows) only
    Input/Output gain controls for adjusting the levels before and after processing.
