Cherry Audio Crumar DS-2
Synthesizer Virtual Instrument
Cherry Audio's Crumar DS-2 synthesizer is a virtual instrument plugin that faithfully replicates the unique sound of the original 1978 hardware synth.
This collaboration with Crumar Instruments captures the distinct tone and multitimbral experience while enhancing it for modern use.
The original DS-2 combined a monophonic Synth engine with a 44-note paraphonic Poly section.
Crumar designed stable oscillators to prevent tuning issues, resulting in gritty, stair-stepped waveforms with distinct timbres that were harmonically edgy, setting them apart from both smooth digital and warm analog sounds.
Cherry Audio's updated DS-2 incorporates modern features such as expanded voice options, a third LFO for more sound design possibilities, improved envelopes, and touch control (aftertouch).
For effects, DS-2 provides three customizable effects chains with 20 studio-quality options, enabling users to arrange and save their effects easily.
Additionally, it comes with over 300 professionally designed presets to help producers get started quickly.
