The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

SWAM Strings V3 is Here!

Each virtual instrument from the SWAM Solo Strings family is digitally handcrafted and based on their traditional acoustic counterparts. They do not repeat pre-recorded sounds like a sample library does - SWAM instruments create the sounds in real-time, allowing for ultra-realistic expression and versatility in sound.

In the V3 version of SWAM Strings, there has been a substantial improvement in the GUI, sound and behavior improvements, and other new features.

Forget about the typical limitations of traditional samplers: the SWAM Solo Strings Bundle was developed by Audio Modeling using SWAM Technology (Synchronous Waves Acoustic Modeling): a combination of innovative performance techniques and concepts of Physical and Behavioral Modeling. It doesn’t include any samples and is extremely lightweight (only a few megabytes).

Therefore, no multiple-gigabyte pre-recorded libraries are needed: the smallest footprint creates the perfect organic consistency resulting from the endless expressive parameters that are unique to every live performance. SWAM’s Solo String Bundle gives you the chance to play a realistic virtual violin, viola, cello, or double bass in real-time via MIDI controllers, while fully managing the expression of all virtual acoustic instruments.

SWAM Engine digitally handcrafted acoustic instruments are never a simple recording of notes via sample libraries, but rather a set of real virtual instruments based on their traditional counterparts. They do not repeat pre-recorded sounds like a sample library does: they play for real.

As a composer, producer, or live performer, you can use the Solo Strings Bundle for Classical, Pop, Jazz, Country, and any other musical style. It’s up to you.
