Antelope Audio VEQ-HLF
High & Low Cut Filter Plugin
VEQ-HLF is a simple but effective unit for passive low and high cut-off filtering, perfect for eliminating undesired frequencies or for adding a true vintage analog color to your production.
In the era of powerful digital tools, one can wonder what makes this simple and effective filter so special.
Equipped with only two knobs: one each for passive low-cut and high-cut filters, each switchable at 10 carefully selected frequency intervals, VEQ-HLF is a true analog gem from the golden era of audio hardware.
The EQ is straightforward, great at what it does, and is the perfect tool for creating space in your mix by eliminating unneeded frequencies at the extremes of the audio spectrum.
With its inimitable musical and warm analog, just add VEQ-HLF to your processing chain without even using its filters and you will obtain its peculiar and highly sought-after sound coloration.
History
Modeled after a classic unit that has been around since the 1960s and has gone through several revisions, not to mention various emulations and clones, and is still used to this day, HLF was originally designed to cut unwanted hum in the lows and remove high-end hiss but also as an early sound-design tool allowing engineers to achieve popular sound effects such as telephone speaker, robot voices, midget radio, etc.
