The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.

iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration

iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.

iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.

iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

String Studio VS-3 now boasts two performance modulators per layer that respond to user-defined MIDI controls. Each and every sound features effect and morphing assignments that can be played in real time for enhanced expressivity and sonic dimension.

Factory Library​

A long and fastidious process of fine-tuning went down in the AAS quarters. Each and every sound went under the eyes of all team members to exit with a consistent gain-stage, unity-gain effects, better dynamics, and compelling real-time sound transformation assignments. This is our most perfected sound library to date.

String Studio VS-3's improved sound browser presents a simple way to find the sound you’re after. String Studio VS-3 sorts sounds by category to present an overview of a pack’s content. Additionally, shortcuts to categories and tone qualities provide a quick way to jump right where you need to be.

Filter's Musicality

String Studio VS-3's filters can now put up with extreme modulation while remanding totally musical.

Multi-Effects Module

String Studio VS-3’s multi-effects module now sports reverb, equalizer, compressor, and guitar amplifier processors for even more completeness.

Simply copy String Studio VS-2 banks into String Studio VS-3's packs folder to convert them.

Microtonal tunings via Scala scale files

String Studio VS-3 now supports the Scala scale file format as well as reference note frequency tuning for microtonal music making.
